Module 1
Understanding Grief and Loss
What areas of life can be affected by grief and loss?
Grief can be experienced in many ways, and often many young people may grieve about similar losses in different ways.
Grief can also be expressed and talked about in different ways across cultures, which can affect our experience of loss.
Sometimes after a loss, young people have trouble enjoying things they used to enjoy or feel like it’s hard to focus on areas of their life they want to.
Many young people find they get stuck in negative thought patterns or images that are upsetting and contribute to a lot of sadness or anxiety.
In Module 1 we are going to look at different areas of life that can be affected by loss.
Have a go thinking about some of the areas which may apply to you. This will help you to complete the diagram of loss, which we’ll cover in Module 2.
Type in some examples on each page that bother you the most. You might like to download a copy of these areas that you would like to work on in the upcoming modules. Please answer in as many words as you wish.
Tip: Remember to save pages you complete, once you leave a webpage the information will be deleted. If you want to save your work, downloading from a laptop works best rather than a phone.
Any time you are finding that doing the program is feeling overwhelming or that you need a break, you can try some of the ideas on the tab ‘Cool Down Activities’ either after doing a module, or during a module before you come back to it again.
