Module 1
Grief is a normal experience and is different for everyone.
Grief is an individual experience. It is unique for everyone, just like people have different personalities.
There are no rights or wrongs and no timeframe or way that people ‘should’ experience grief or loss.
It’s important to remember that grief is a normal process. You do not have to ‘move on’ or ‘get over’ grief or loss. Sometimes people are meaning well but say things like this which can feel bad.
What people think moving through grief and loss is like versus what it’s usually like.
Sometimes grief can impact your life a lot and maybe you want help to work on that. That’s when a program like this might help you try different ways to approach areas of your life to improve your wellbeing.
Grief is more common for young people than most people think, but because it’s not talked about much, young people experiencing grief and loss often feel alone in their grief.
Grief is normal. But if you feel trapped in your grief, it can be helpful to work through a program like this.
It can be helpful to remind yourself it’s common and normal to have strong reactions and impacts from grief and loss. It does not mean there is anything wrong with you or you have a problem.
Grief and loss are a part of our human experience.
