Module 4

Riley’s experiment:

Remember Riley?  Here is an example of an experiment Riley did.

Each experiment you conduct is a powerful opportunity for growth and self-discovery.

1) My thought (be as specific as possible and rate how strong your thoughts and feelings are from 0 to 10):
My close friend will not want to catch up with me because I have been so sad (9/10).
2) Experiment: Think of an experiment to test out the thought.
Send a text to a close friend and ask if they want to go to the shops.
3) Results:
When I texted my close friend, they said they wanted to go. They did not say anything about me being sad. I ended up having a fun afternoon. I felt less sad.
4) What I've learned:
It was not true that my close friend does not want to see me. I felt much better going out than staying home.
5) My new thought (rate how strong your thoughts and feelings are from 0 to 10):
My close friend still wants to see me (8/10). It doesn’t seem to worry them I have been sad (7/10). I feel less sad when I am out than at home (9/10).
