Module 6
Writing a letter
In this task, you can write about your loss.
Tip: Remember that grief can result from different types of loss. For example, it could be the death of a pet or parents’ divorce. If your loss was not the death of a loved one, you can still write about your loss.
Try writing a letter that covers topics like:
How you are doing.
Moments in the past months when you missed them the most.
Moments in your daily life you miss the most.
What you would like to say.
What you want them to never forget.
What helps you in coping with your grief?
What tips would you give to a friend experiencing grief like you?
Feel free to take your time when writing as this task can be overwhelming.
Write for no longer than half an hour.
Try doing it a few times.
You can assume that no one is going to read the letter (unless you want them to).
Think about having a nice activity to do afterwards, or someone to meet.
If you have a trusted person that you feel comfortable with, you could share the letter with them if you like.
This can be a hard activity. If you have strong feelings and need more help, don’t forget these places and online support you can access.

“It was a long letter, but it helped. ”
