Module 8

Dealing with setbacks

  • At times of stress, it is easy to slip back into negative loops.

  • When setbacks happen, think about some of the following points:

  • Think ahead of time what types of situations might cause problems?

For example, Taylor made a plan of assignments due during the rest of the term.

  • Catch the issue as quickly as you can.

  • The earlier you start, the easier it will be to work on it.

Taylor might notice a few assignments are all due in the same week and make a plan to talk to teachers about planning the work required or getting extensions.

  • Remember, it’s normal to feel a lot of ups and downs. It’s hard at times to sail the waves of our strong feelings.

Taylor was a bit stressed that week the assignments were due and didn’t see her friends that much.

  • Go back to some of the ideas in this program and do another worksheet.

Taylor went back to Module 6 to practise breaking tasks down into smaller, easier bits. Taylor also went back to Module 3 to practise scheduling enjoyable activities.

Watch below to hear Jamie talk about it.

I think if I keep working on some of this stuff, it’s going to keep helping me.
